Terrible Service

Edible food but absolutely terrible service. Waited hour for starter and furter 3/4 hour for main course, gave up on waiting for pudding. Different excuses depending on which staff you spoke to when you could find any. There are a lot better places to eat in and around Chelmsford than this - avoid.

Fantastic Food

This country pub is something special, located between Chelmsford and Writtle you are looking at a little drive to get here, so unfortunatly one of you will have to be the driver for the evening, but that is a small price to pay for the great food this place has to offer. The evening menu has a lot of good food with a twist, nothing is normal and boring, I am always torn between 2-3 things, and I mean torn because you don't see the dishes anywhere else, so have to come back again! There are specials chalked up all around the pub so look out for these as well. The pub itself is very country pub style and there are not too many tables so not over crowded, just make sure you get there early to get a table.
